Parent-Teacher Conferences

While this isn't anyone's first round of conferences, it's always good to think through your plan - especially with new information to review this time.  Here are some things to keep in mind:

Be prepared: make a general outline of what you want to cover with each family; prepare notes about each student, including strengths, areas for growth, and ancedotes.

Avoid educational jargon: try to use clear language so the family understands - that's getting harder and harder!

Be a good listener: allow the family to ask questions and voice concerns.

Ask questions: ask the family if they have any questions, and make sure they have time to talk.

Follow up: keep track of things discussed, and any required follow up; use what you learn from the conference to build yoru relationship with the student.

Good luck!  And as always, let me know if you'd like me to attend any of your conferences.
