Celebrating Kindness

Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless. Mother Teresa

As we think about things to celebrate this week (and record in your Celebration Journal!!!), it ties in perfectly to communicating these celebrations when they include others around us. And here's the good news - sharing a kind word or giving a compliment is as beneficial to you, the giver, as it is to the receiver!

The benefits of celebrating each other include:
1.  Compliments build confidence

When you show that you see value in someone, it helps them recognize the value within themselves.  It valides them and gives them the courage to share that value

2.  Compliments spark creativity

When you compliment someone on a job well down, chances are your praise encourages them to share more ideas that ultimately help the bigger picture.

3.  Compliments benefit the giver

The giver feels good about the positive impact on others, leading to a positive mindset about yourself and others.  Compliments create a ripple of kindness and encouragement!

I'm encouraging you to look for celebrations this week, to share at our staff meeting on Thursday, and if applicable, share as a compliment to a family member, friend, or colleague.  There are notes in the work room to help you get started! Giving compliments costs nothing, but is a happiness habit that benefits both the giver and the receiver!

I can live for two months on a good compliment.  Mark Twain
