Live to Give

 

And this week's 7 Mindset's focus is Live to Give - Create a Legacy.  This made me wonder what exactly does that mean?

One definition of a legacy is: a gift or something of value left behind by an ancestor or predecessoer; creating something enduring that can be passed on.  This might be a physical business, a monetary gift, or finding a cause that affects change.  It is not simply the "thing", but also its ability to endure through time. A legacy could be a gift of knowledge, or kindness, creating memories for your family, or love for the outdoors. When identifying your own legacy, ask youself:"What do I have of value to pass on? What do you want to be remembered for?"  Legacies are strongly linked to hope - the belief that the future will be better than today.  When you build your legacy, you're actively building that better future.  What will be your legacy - with your family? What will your educational legacy be? How are you cultivating it now?

This week's mindset will focus on "Live to Give", and making that one's legacy.  Thank you for all that you "live to give" to your students.  The relationships, time, patience, passion, and dedication will become part of the legacy you leave behind, something that will benefit your students for a lifetime!
