The 1992 United States men's Olympic basketball team, nicknamed the "Dream Team", was the first American Olympic team to feature active professional players from the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team has been described by journalists around the world as the greatest sports team ever assembled.

At the 1992 Summer Olympics held in Barcelona, the team defeated its opponents by an average of 44 points en route to the gold medal against Croatia.

The team was collectively inducted into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame in 2009, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010, and the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2017. The Naismith Hall calls the team "the greatest collection of basketball talent on the planet".

How was Martin Luther King influenced by his own Dream Team?

This week we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a man who brought hope and healing to America. Thanks to his resilience, Dr. King was able to accomplish goals that seemed impossible and out of reach. Dr. King's resilience allowed him to be flexible, adapt quickly, and collaborate well with others. He made quick and effective decisions in a crisis and persisted despite adversity.

Here are 5 things identified as big contributors to Dr. King's success and his ability to be a leader who inspired resilience within the civil rights community.

1. Religion - power in his faith, as well as the strength that comes from being a part of a religious community

2. Social Support

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. placed great importance on his family. He would also host social gatherings to draw support from friends in the community. Dr. King surrounded himself with people whom he could lean on and who helped him endure.

3. Recovery Time - space and time for contemplation and rejuvenation

4. Altruism - service to others

5. Reframing - maintaining a positive outlook - he was a master of reframing negative situations, which allowed him to maintain a positive outlook despite tragedy
