PBIS Reboot

January PBIS Reboot!

Dear Willow Staff;

Similar to this fall, we are asking classroom teachers to review the PBIS expectations

and your classroom matrix when we return the week of January 2nd.

Classroom Teachers:

By January 5th, please cover the following areas with your class.

  1. Review the expectations from the schoolwide matrix.

  2. Show the videos each day (see list below).

  3. Practice and reinforce the expectations.

We will be highlighting one area each day on the Raider Report, with the Cool Tools
linked to the Raider Report calendar. In addition, please review the schoolwide matrix
with your class.

Other classroom options include:

  • Ask Sarah or Sue to talk to your class

  • Invite book buddies or other older students to talk with your class

  • Blookit (grads 3-5) - you may need a Blookit account to use it

Classroom Teachers: Please fill in what your class did

to complete the PBIS Reboot:

Specialists:

On your first day with a class, please review the matrix that you created last year.

100% Accountable

December's Mindset is 100% Accountable - reminding students to choose to be responsible for their own happiness and success.

100% Accountable teachers us that we are not victims of our past, our future is not predetermined, and our lives are what we choose from this moment onward.  With a focus on recognizing fears and excuses, this mindset allows us to break down barriers, freeing our minds and focusing our energy to take the critical steps toward our goals.

The focus for Week 1 is Own Your Life.  If you give away your freedom to act and think for yourself, you become a victim.  It happens when you allow the opinions and actions of others to matter more than your own.  It's important to own all aspects of your life and actions, and to take responsibility for your situation and every moment of your life.  If you do, you will be in control, rather than allowing others to control your life.

This reminds me of many conversations I've had with students - behaviors in the bathroom, disruptions in the classroom, or choices on the playground. He was doing it, too is heard a lot!  This is a great opportunity to talk with kids about owning their lives - and making good decisions for themselves.

Have a great week!
Sue
