Young Author's Day: Dream Big!

A HUGE thank you to everyone that has helped to plan this week's Young Author's Day! This event, unique to Willow, is something that literally takes a year to plan - so a huge shout out to the YAD committee for planning yet another day that our Willow kids will remember for a long time! A big thank you to Linda Wagner for coordinating this year's special guests/authors!

The YAD Mission

  • YAD is an all-day, in-school celebration that recognizes our students as writers.

  • Each year a theme is chosen and activities are chosen to emphasize reading, writing and the arts.

  • An opening ceremony starts the day by providing momentum and excitement for the day’s theme.

  • The morning presents a time for the children to take part in the theme through various interactive stations.

  • In the afternoon, the children share the books they have written in small, mixed-age level groups led by an adult share leader.

  • A closing ceremony wraps up the day’s learning and ends the event.

Things to keep track of for Friday!

Please let me (or anyone on the YAD committee) know if you have any questions!

Staff Appreciation

Happy Staff Appreciation Week!

I asked the Leadership and Special Ed Teams what they were grateful for at our meetings last week, and the overwhelming response was, "working at a place like Willow where everyone is there for each other, and where kids always come first."

I couldn't agree more.  Thanks for all you do!

Everyone will find a rubber duck in your mailbox or on your desk tomorrow.  Watch the Raider Report, or check the table in the work room each day, to see which four numbers are drawn!  There's a prize cart in Sara/Amy's office (in the back of the office) - stop by and choose a prize if your name is drawn!
Good luck!

Enjoy the well deserved staff appreciation week!
Sue
